London School of Mosaic and Corner7 Open Call Exhibition: Submission Guidelines

The London School of Mosaic and Corner7 are excited to announce our first open call exhibition for mosaic art. Here are the key details and guidelines for submission:

Key Dates

Application Deadline: Tuesday, 15th October 2024, 5 PM GMT

Exhibition Dates: 13th - 19th November 2024

Location: Corner7 Project Space, Camden, 7A Stratford Villas, London NW1 9SJ

Private View: Wednesday, 13th November, 6 - 8 PM

Eligibility

Open to artists residing in the UK and abroad. Note: The organisers do not cover shipping costs or importation duties.

Submission Details: You can submit up to three works. Please refer to our FAQ below for further details.

Fee: You are requested to pay a £5 donation fee per work (£10 for two works or £15 for three works). To apply, please make the donation payment by clicking on the button below. We will then send you the link to submit your application. The donation fee is non-refundable. Note: We will send you the application form link within 48 hours, excluding weekends.

Sales and Commission: Artworks may be for sale. A 30% commission will be charged.

Size Limit: There are no limitation but please be aware that the works must fit through a regular single door. Note: framing is not compulsory.

Originality: All works must be the artist's original creation.

Submission Details: Once we receive the payment, we will send you the link to submit your application and upload images. You must include at least one image for each artwork. Submit images in JPEG or PNG format, with a maximum size of 5MB. All files must be titled as follows: Full Name_Title_Dimensions.

Care of Works & Insurance

The organisers will take utmost care of exhibited works but accepts no liability for loss or damage. Artists are advised to arrange their own insurance.

Delivery & Collection

Delivery Dates: If selected, we will ask you to deliver your work(s) between 4th - 8th November 2024, 10 AM - 4 PM to London School of Mosaic, 181 Mansfield Road, NW3 2HP.

Collection of Unsold Works: 25th - 28th November 2024, 10 AM - 4 PM from London School of Mosaic, 181 Mansfield Road, NW3 2HP.

Storage Charges: £12 per work plus £12 per week for uncollected works.

Display Requirements

All works must be ready for hanging with appropriate fixings. No projections from the back of frames. Please specify if your work is suitable for outdoor display.

Photography & Copyrights

Photography: The London School of Mosaic and Corner7 may photograph or reproduce all works for promotional purposes.

Copyright: Remains with the artist.

Data Protection & Sale of Work

Data Protection: Personal data will be used solely for exhibition purposes and for communication with the London School of Mosaic and Corner7.

Notification of Selection

Artists will be informed of the selection panel's decision via email by Friday, 25th October 2024. The decision is final.

Exhibition Rules

The London School of Mosaic and Corner7 reserve the right to withdraw any work from the exhibition that is deemed offensive or likely to breach the Racial and Religious Hatred Act, 2006.

  • We welcome applications from across the UK. However, we cannot cover transportation costs to and from the LSoM. If you are based abroad, we will consider your application, but you will be responsible for any transportation, duty, or customs costs. 

  • The submission fee is £5 per piece and is non-refundable

  • You can submit up to three pieces.

  • To enter, please make your payment through the link on this page. Once we receive your payment, we will email you the artwork submission link. 

  • Unfortunately, we cannot offer discounts to students or other vulnerable groups. We have kept the fee low, and proceeds will cover general hanging, storage, transport, and private viewing costs. 

  • Yes, we accept mixed media works related to mosaic, including video, audio, installation, painting, drawing, sculpture, performance, and other time-based media works. 

  • The exhibition will take place at Corner7 in Camden. The space includes both indoor and outdoor areas. We will ask you to specify if your piece can be exhibited in both types of spaces or just one. 

  • Yes, we accept mosaics made from non-traditional materials such as recycled materials, plastic, textile, paper, metal, and more. Traditional materials include marble, smalti, ceramic, vitreous glass, and pebbles. 

  • Yes, you can submit a series, but all pieces must be the same size and intended to be displayed and sold together as one piece. 

  • Each application must include at least one, and a maximum of three, photos of each work. Photos should be of high quality and no larger than 5MB each. For tips on taking good photos, please check www.cassart.co.uk/how-to-photograph-your-artwork.

  • Yes, we strongly advise you to obtain insurance, as we cannot provide it. We will take the utmost care of the pieces, but accidents can happen. For affordable artist insurance options, please click www.a-n.co.uk/about/insurance

  • Yes, all works should be delivered wrapped with protected corners and labelled with your name. 

  • No, you can arrange for a door-to-door courier service or send a representative (with written permission). Please do not post your work. 

  • Yes, all wall-hung works must have appropriate back fixings, such as wire, D-rings, or French cleats. Works without proper fixings will be rejected. If you need to discuss hanging requirements, please contact us. 

  • No, we will generally handle the installation and aim to display all work to its best advantage. If your work is an installation, we will contact you to discuss specific requirements. 

  • No, framing is not mandatory. If you choose to frame your piece, please use simple, neutral frames. Colourful, flamboyant frames will not be considered and may negatively impact your application.
